Great video for one of the stronger songs from A Thousand Shark's Teeth.
Noel Gallagher has resorted (since he can't do anything worthwhile with his music) to he role of big bully in the music world these days. Recently he made comments regarding Amy Winehouse's producer, Mark Ronson. In a nutshell, Gallagher said Ronson “ruined” people’s songs with his covers and that he should “learn three chords on the guitar and go write a tune.”
Ronson responded hilariously on his Myspace page:
"Noel Gallagher said I should 'learn three chords on the guitar and go write a tune'. So I just wanted him to know that I'm actually taking guitar lessons from Jay-Z right now and he's already taught me both chords to 'Wonderwall' (tune!). In fact, it's so much fun having Jay teach me all of Noel's songs on the guitar (hooray!) that I'm thinking of doing an Oasis/Jay-Z remix album a la 'The Grey Album'. Potential titles are 'Champagne Superhova' or 'Definitely Jay Z'. I'll keep you posted."
Oh you just got snapped Noel! Ronson also reminded Noel that he wrote "Back to Black," which uses seven chords.

The new video from My Morning Jacket's mixed-reviewed album was inspired by and pretty much follows Spike Jonze's yet-to-be-released "Where the Wild Things Are." The movie has been deemed too frightening for kids, so Spike may have to make a few edits. Luckily, MMJ gives us a little taste.

It should first be noted that Tad Kubler, guitarist for The Hold Steady, is a member of the devoted-Oasis-fanbase headed for extinction. In light of Noel Gallagher's comments about Radiohead fans being boring, this seems like an aptly placed insult. What did Kluber say?
"I think they've lost the plot," he said. "What are they doing? Where are they going? What's happening? I don't get it any more. They lost me.
"I still appreciate what they're doing, or what they're trying to do. But I think they're trying too hard not to be Radiohead. That seems a little ridiculous to me."
"I like them as a rock band, all the buttons and sequencing and stuff like that I don't really care for. I'm a fan of rock music and what they're doing now I don't think is very good."
"Buttons and Sequencing and stuff?" Maybe Tabby hasn't heard Radiohead's last 2 albums, which are very guitar-driven whereas the previous 2 had all that "button-pushing" stuff (and their best album, KID A). Ironic since The Hold Steady lost me with their very first album (oh yes I did!).
Pitchfork has yet to release an official response but rumors of a riot have been surfacing.
The National have been touring the world. And it seems as though they've been writing new stuff along the way. Here in my native(very quasi) Denmark, they perform a new song titled "A Thousand Black Cities."
The new album is supposed to be out in September. And The Cure fulfilled their promise to release a new single every month. The winner for August is "The Perfect Boy."
I bought Palahniuk's "Choke" a few years ago after reading "Survivor" which was amazing. In typical fashion, I never got around to reading it. According to Palahniuk, Radiohead likes the film adaptation though, as they made a new song, "Reckoner," for the closing credits and then decided the film was just cool enough for them to lend the score as well. However, Radiohead denies the score part. Apparently, Nathan Larson of Shudder to Think will take on that roll.
The soundtrack gets even radder with songs from Twilight Singers, Death Cab, Clap Your Hands, Fiery Furnaces, The Buzzcocks, Shout Out Louds, The Natural History, Blitzen Trapper and My Morning Jacket.
